2013 Interior Spring Color Trends - Pastels with a Pop!

PASTELS WITH A POP!

Color trends for your homes Interiors are often reflections of what is front and foremost in the fashion industry. In Spring and Summer of 2013, instead of the hot, vibrant, saturated colors of past seasons, light airy pastels are prevailing . Tangerines and corals as well as minty green, and bubblegum pinks are trending. Also powder blue and lemon meringue are very up and coming.

The way to utilize this trend toward softer colors and still maximize the impact is to creatively insert bolder hues (even of the same color as the wall) on fabrics and accessories. For example, if the walls are pale yellow, bright lemon yellow accessories or yellow sunflowers in a vase act as the compliment and juxtaposition all one in the same. Minty green walls could be set off with lime green or forest green. Even deep purple plums and hot fushia would give your room personality and interesting pizazz.

Not only has the color palette for walls and fabrics evolved, there has been a visible shift in use of materials and colors in furnishings. Lighter wood stains are coming back in vogue. Maple, fruit wood, pine and whitewashed wood tones are reminiscent of the "oak" stains of the past, but are much more refined in appearance and spirit. Gold metals, mostly matte gold, are also coming on strong to dress up and give warmth and flash to the transitional market. The rustic, industrial past is shifting. 2013 furnishings exemplify clean, streamlined structure and fresh glamor without the cold contemporary edge.

Don't be afraid to approach and embrace new ideas, trends and designs in your own home. Spice up your life with this fresh look of Spring 2013.

More Bang for Your Buck

Creating a complete composition on a wall definitely gives you much more bang for your buck.
When hanging artwork or a mirror, think of the wall as a blank canvas. Create more impact and interest by grouping several items together. Formulate a composition using your wall space vertically as well as horizontally to become a focal point. For example, instead of hanging just one painting over the sofa and one mirror over the buffet, add more decorative accessories to the composition. On each side of a vertical painting add wall brackets to expand the composition horizontally, and place a vase or floral piece on each bracket to add height and interest. Over the buffet that has an existing mirror, add a small painting or print on each side of the mirror along with three small mirrors staggered over and around the top of the larger one to add verticality. A common thread to visually relate all of your items also helps make your composition have more impact - such as using all gold finishes for the frames of the pictures and mirrors. Look around your home for these decorative pieces that you may already have that are looking lonely where they are placed. Create an all new look for your home by forming your strong focal area and group some of your pieces together possibly adding one or two new items too.

Style Trends 2012

Interior Design Market 2012 – STYLE TRENDS

The new style trends offer something for everyone. Vintage Appeal, Loft Exotic and Urban Luxe were evident influences in lamps, furniture, accessories, artwork and rugs for the interior and exterior of your home. Vintage Appeal consists of weathered white - wash finishes, antiqued mirrored glass and historical influences reminiscent of French Country design and Old World inspiration. Loft Exotic is for those of us who crave color and eclecticism. Splashes of warm saturated color, cultural motifs and contemporary art or light fixtures are thrown in the mix for the most fashion forward appeal. Urban Luxe exudes a sophisticated almost masculine vibe with a dramatic neutral palette. Bold statement pieces with an artistic flair, and transitional artwork are paired with neutral elements and shots of cool vibrant blue to complete the look. All of these trends will be evident in items arriving daily at Bella Interiors. The time is now to be in style!

Juicy June 2012

Summertime is all about COLOR! Bright, saturated colors are inspired by the fruits of the season. Watermelon, mango, pineapple and lime are "hot" colors this June to use inside and outside your home. These juicy colors are fun to use on throw pillows, table toppers, table decor and decorative accessories.

Fabrics with patterns such as ikat and ethnic prints are very trendy and easy to use as throw pillows. Pillows can be an affordable way to change the look of your decor for the summer. Also, use these fabrics or a roll of bright fabric mesh as table toppers or runners to add a splash of color to your outdoor entertaining. When everyone is cooking out and having parties give your table scape a fresh touch with a twist of colorful place mats, chargers, napkins and dishes.

Decorative accessories can also be rotated with everyday items to renew your homes spirit. Candles, flower arrangements and vases can be found in all of the summer brights. Even a bowl or basket filled with colorful glass balls adds an unexpected touch of whimsy. Check out all of these trends and many more beautiful items for your home decor at Bella Interiors.
